What can the vitamins in our jamu do for you?

The human body can seem complex, but in reality all it really wants (and needs) is a variety of essential vitamins to keep things balanced and running smoothly.

Both our Island Spice and Tropical Turmeric jamus are rich in all those vitamins that care for your body. Just 100ml of our jamu contains: vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B7/B8 (biotin), vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) and vitamin C (ascorbic acid + dehydroascorbic acid).

Sure, all these vitamins sound important, but what actually are their health and wellness benefits?

Together, the B vitamins are maintainers of good brain, liver, skin, hair and eye health, plus they’re said to prevent the development of illnesses related to the nervous system, brain, muscles, heart, stomach and intestines. Together with vitamin C they’re also vital antioxidants, meaning they support the body’s natural defences, reducing the risk of illnesses and boosting the body’s immune system, which can even help to reduce stress.

Your stamina, strength and smartness all depend on one thing – your energy levels. Luckily, the B vitamins are committed to keeping your energy levels topped up. Vitamins B2, B5 and B12 support your body in breaking down the food you eat and converting it into energy, ensuring that you’re active and alert all day. On the energy-giving side of things, vitamin B3 is believed to be brain food, giving your mind the stimulation it needs to stay sharp and shrewd.

In fact, the vitamins that jamu contains do a lot more for the mind than simply keep it energised. Vitamins B6 and B12 are believed to be mentally uplifting, putting you in a good mood and reducing symptoms of depression. Meanwhile, vitamin B12 may also strengthen your brain power by reducing the loss of neurons. But vitamin B12 isn’t alone in doing this – vitamins C and B6 are also said to protect your memory and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s as you age.

Your blood ensures oxygen and nutrients get to every corner of your body, but it’s ability to do that depends on what you choose to put in your body! Vitamins B3 and C are believed to help regulate blood pressure, keeping your blood flowing smoothly. Vitamins B7/8 and 3 are said to help treat diabetes by protecting the cells that create insulin, whilst vitamin B12 may help to prevent anaemia through supporting red blood cell formation.

But none of that matters if your heart isn’t happily pumping blood around your body. Vitamins B6, B12 and C are all considered to sustain good heart health by preventing clogged arteries and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Looking good on the outside is all part of feeling good on the inside. Vitamins B3 and B7/8 are said to preserve skin cells, which is the secret to maintaining elasticity and a flawless complexion. Research has suggested that vitamin B7/8 also gives you luscious locks, promoting hair growth and leaving it shiny and voluminous.

Ultimately, these multiskilled, life-enhancing vitamins work together to bring you stability, comfort and happiness. Shop our range of jamus to make sure you get your daily dose of them.
